Musk challenges the EU: Twitter exits the code of conduct against disinformation

Before the arrival of Elon Musk, Twitter was regarded by the European Commission as best in class in the fight against disinformation. Not everything was perfect in the social platform, but at least Twitter had enthusiastically signed up to the EU’s voluntary code of conduct and had started working seriously on content moderation, fake news and hate speech. Even too much, according to some within the EU, who judged the decision to ban Donald Trump after the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 as problematic.
