The disappearance of the French sociologist Alain Touraine, the first intellectual to speak of a post-industrial society, reminds us that the era of transitions began many decades ago. A long crossing in the desert – characterized by phases of economic recession, wars, natural disasters and pandemics – which still does not allow us to glimpse a new economic and social order. In recent times, transitions have certainly become faster and more radical, but what is missing most of all is a method that allows us to imagine and concretely build the new world. He said it well Giuseppe De Rita: the crisis we are experiencing today is social, not economic. It is reasonable to think that this is also due to the crisis and the progressive marginalization of intermediate bodies, and not only for the delays that these actors have shown in understanding the transformations taking place. It is from here that we must start again to look to the future with confidence.
