Embrace between the secretary of the Pd Elly Schlein and the leader of the M5s Giuseppe Conte at the demonstration of the CGIL and the associations dedicated to the defense of public health and the right to health in the workplace. The two met to the left of the stage, on the edge of Piazza del Popolo where the interventions are underway. A few minutes in which Schlein – who was leaving the square at that very moment – and Conte greeted each other warmly, and allowed themselves an exchange of words surrounded by the crowd. The demonstration will be closed by the intervention of the secretary of the CGIL Maurizio Landini. Schlein was already leaving Piazza del Popolo when she, having learned that she was arriving at Giuseppe Conte, came back to say hello. “They hadn’t managed to cross each other and so she came back to say hello,” say the parents of her. Schlein and Conte then said goodbye and then the Pd secretary left for Milan.
But it is the leader of the 5S who takes a step further and opens up to the hypothesis of an alliance to be built. Starting, Conte says, from one fact: «It seems to me that the majority is splitting on everything and is going back on electoral promises. I would worry more about the state of health of the majority who currently have government responsibilities’, rather than the divisions of the opposition. Thus the leader of the M5S Giuseppe Conte at the CGIL demonstration for health, underway in Rome. “With the opposition there are issues that do not see us fully converging, it is quite evident and it is useless to repeat it every time”, he underlines but “it is clear that a process is underway” and “we are not in the final straight. path of dialogue that we will cultivate with great responsibility, loyalty, keeping the bar high”.
The hug with Landini
The theme of work and precariousness, then. And the cuts in public spending, starting with the problems afflicting health care. So Conte met Landini. «From the very beginning we have always said with conviction that it is a disgrace to cut spending on health care, because they are absolutely necessary investments, and we find the project of differentiated autonomy absolutely wicked because it will have no other effect than weakening the response of the health system in already disadvantaged areas and therefore will create an even greater gap. And he added: «We are very worried about the money that is being wasted and the delays accumulated precisely on health care as regards the Pnrr. Our presence here is a convinced testimony of a path and of a political battle that we have been undertaking for some time », added the leader of the M5S.
