The bill provides for the return of the celebration which also involves the Armed Forces

Green light from the Senate hall to the bill on the restoration of the national holiday of November 4 with 102 votes in favour, none against and 28 abstentions (The senators of the M5s abstain).

The provision, an initiative of the Senator of Forza Italia, Maurizio Gasparri, provides that starting from 2023 the celebration of National Unity and Armed Forces Day will take place again on November 4 of each year. Historically, and in practice, both National Unity and the Armed Forces are already celebrated on November 4, but the law dating back to 1949 formally attributes the name of National Unity Day to the day.

So now the bill passes to the examination of the Chamber. The promoter also urges Montecitorio to approve the text before November 4th, so that already this year we can formally celebrate national unity but also the sacrifice of the armed forces.
