There is a huge pall of hypocrisy in the debate that has taken place in recent days around the issue of work. A cloak of hypocrisy in which the protagonists of the discussion have systematically chosen to remove some data of reality to easily hide behind the useless banner of propaganda. The government did so, passing off as historic what is not, i.e. the “record” intervention on the tax wedge (in 2023, interventions amounting to 8.5 billion, 1.5 billion less than the amount allocated by the Renzi government and the Draghi government). But above all the opposition front did it, which rather than pointing out to the government majority the real limits of the approach chosen by Meloni & Co. to intervene on wages, decided to focus on the fluff card, not caring about the agenda of the facts. And the facts, when it comes to wages, when it comes to work, are ruthless, if lined up without falsehoods.
