NATO Summit, the program for the second day of meetings

The second day of the summit Born Of Vilnius will revolve around the meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Council of the Atlantic Alliance, a council in which all the heads of government of the Atlantic alliance will participate. An even more important meeting given the recent “tensions” with US President Joe Biden after the latter decided to curb talks regarding the entry of theUkraine in NATO and postpone the question until the end of the war. The Ukrainian president has been keen to reiterate since his arrival in the Lithuanian capital yesterday that entry into the alliance would be important for both Ukraine and the Alliance, “Nato will make Ukraine safer and Ukraine it will make NATO stronger” were his words.

The first appointment of the second day of the summit is the joint press conference at the end of an initial meeting between the general secretary Jens Stoltenberg and the president Zelensky. The meeting at the level of heads of state and government between the NATO council and theUkraine (in which Sweden will also participate after the unblocking of negotiations with Turkey for its entry into the alliance) should be held between 12 and 14 (Italian time). At the end of the council is expected for 14:30 the closing conference by NATO secretary Stoltenberg who will therefore take stock of the two days of the summit and communicate the conclusions and the future path.

The president of the United States Joe Bidenabsent from the dinner on the first day – in which he was replaced by the secretary of state Antony Blinken – will hold a lecture at Vilnius University. In his speech, the American president will probably speak of the success of American diplomacy in the negotiations that led to the removal of the Turkish veto for Sweden’s entry into NATO, and will remark, to ease the tensions of recent days with President Zelensky, the new economic and military aid packages for Ukraine allocated by his government.
