Lombardy regionals, Usuelli (+Europe) brings the electoral campaign to Grindr: “I use double meanings to talk about serious issues”

“To draw attention to terribly serious topics, you have to be a Gascon”. A provocation that proved effective was that of Michael Usuellioutgoing regional councilor of +Europa in Lombardy and candidate with the civic list of Pierfrancesco Majorino which recently launched a social campaign on Grindr, the dating app widely used by the Lgbtq+ community. “The feedback – said Usuelli – was excellent: I intercepted a large part of the Italian media and I certainly achieved my goal, which was to reach the greatest number of people belonging to the Lombard and Italian LGBT community, because on the various social , Grindr included, there were really many feedbacks from people who then wanted to see my show”.

A campaign that also aims to carry forward some themes dear to the LGBT community. “As the only graduate in medicine in the Lombardy Regional Council, I have been dealing with Lombardy health care in all its various forms for five years, including issues that are sensitive to the LGBT community, which is openly opposed by the Lombardy Region, so much so that they never sponsored Pride in these five years”, explained the councilor candidate for the Regionals, recalling his commitment to the “prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, for which there is a campaign for the diagnosis and inheritance of hepatitis C , which I dealt with trying to improve the wrong setting of the Lombardy Region, with a proposal, which was obviously rejected. And then there is the whole system of checkpoints, those ‘friendly’ places in which to go without an appointment to have access to rapid tests for all sexually transmitted diseases, which in Lombardy are very few and are supported only by the Municipalities, because the Region does not has ever done anything.”

Usuelli had also been the promoter of the regional law proposal on homotransphobia, “which was incredibly opposed in the health commission by the League, so not only were we unable to get to the courtroom, but the Lombard LGBT associations were not even given the opportunity to participate in hearings, as always happens”. For this reason, the exponent of +Europe has decided to land his electoral campaign on the dating app “to address the Grindr community and, as is the duty of a regional councilor, give back the work that has been done in these five years on healthcare in general and in particular on the issues on which the community is most sensitive”. For his electoral campaign he has chosen a series of slogans, playing on the double meaning. “Do it for me, vote for me!” or even “Ask me what you want, I want to bang for you!”.
