Green light to the commission of inquiry into Covid: Pd and 5S leave the Chamber in dissent

The Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement do not vote for the establishment of a commission of inquiry into Covid, in disagreement with the choices of the center-right, which excluded the Regions from the investigation and questioned the usefulness of vaccines. In the social affairs committee in the Chamber, the text therefore passes with the yes of the majority, but with the blatant dissent of a large part of the opposition: only the Third Pole votes in favour.

For the Democratic Party, therefore, once again the choice of the Aventine Hill. After having abandoned, in recent weeks, the Justice Commission of the House and the Senate to protest against the president of FdI Andrea Delmastrotoday the exponents of the party of Elly Schlein, together with those of the 5 Star Movement, have adopted the same strategy after the clash with the majority in the Social Affairs commission of the Chamber, meeting to vote on the bill on the establishment of the bicameral commission of inquiry into the management of the Covid emergency. Proposal that was approved by the right and therefore on May 22 will be presented in the Chamber in Montecitorio by Alice Buonguerrierispeaker of Brothers of Italy.

Not only the dem but also the cinquestelle have chosen not to participate in the vote and leave the Chamber. What are the reasons? “It is ridiculous to set up a commission of inquiry into Covid, into the work of the national government, into its acts and not into who implemented them, the Regions and the health institutions or those who manage health care in our country”, explain Marco Furfaro, Ilenia Malavasi, Nico Stumpo from the Pd, Paul Ciani And Gianni Girelli. “Never in history – they continue – has a commission of inquiry been approved by a majority. But the right just wants to exploit a tragedy and try to divert attention from the incapacity of this government in dealing with the country’s emergencies”.

The members of the Democratic Party in the social affairs commission claim to have had a collaborative and never prejudicial attitude in recent months. And instead the majority, “with the complicity of Italia Viva to whom we ask how it is possible to approve a commission that straightens the hair of the NoVax, approved a text without any interlocution with the opposition and which demonstrates, on the merits, that the only the goal is to use serious and dramatic events to make propaganda on the skin of those who have suffered and fought against Covid”. In the text, the dem add, “the usefulness of vaccines is also questioned, with a wink at NoVax, and the Regions are not mentioned, that is, the institution that has the main responsibility for health care”.
