The sanction was decided by the Commission of the Communications Guarantee Authority: accused of five episodes in which there would have been no indication of the insertion of advertising products

Agcom has imposed a fine of 170 thousand euros against Rai for hidden advertising offered to Meta (the company of Instagram and Facebook) during the last Sanremo Festival. This was decided by the Commission for services and products of the Communications Guarantee Authority, with a majority vote. “The violations ascertained concern five episodes of failure to indicate the insertion of advertising messages and the case of hidden advertising of the social network Instagram and the profile of the conductor Amadeus”, writes Agcom in a note. The decision was anticipated by the opening of the investigation by the Authority’s Council on 16 March.

As for Blanco’s performance, Agcom “recalled Rai for the lack of respect for human dignity and the instigation to violence and for not having complied with the obligations set out in the current service, promotion and broadcasting contract content that enhances the principles of protection of legality and the dignity of the person”.
