Webuild appoints Gianni De Gennaro as president of the consortium to build the bridge over the Strait

The former police chief and Leonardo’s number one will be the new president of Eurolink, the consortium leading the design and construction of the infrastructure that will connect Calabria and Sicily
Will be Gianni DeGennaro the new President of Eurolinkthe general contractor who will have to design and build the bridge over the Strait of Messina. Webuild, a group born in 2014 from the merger of Salini and Impregilo participated by the state through Cdp Equity, therefore chose theformer Chief of Police and Director General of Public Safety Gianni De Gennaro to lead the construction of one of the largest metropolitan infrastructures in the Mediterranean. Webuld explained that he had chosen the prefect De Gennaro for his “institutional and company experience, integrity and transparency always oriented towards an approach of legality and security for the country”.
The Eurolink consortium is made up of an international consortium of companies, in which Webuild holds a 45 per cent stake and is made up of the Spanish Sacyr (18.7 per cent), Condotte d’Acqua (15 per cent), Cmc (13 per cent ), by the Japanese IHI (6.3 percent) and by the Aci Consortium (2 percent).
De Gennaro was head of cabinet of the Ministry of the Interior, director general of the department of information for security and undersecretary of state to the presidency of the Council of the Monti government with responsibility for information and security services. From 2013 to 2020 he was president of Leonardo (formerly Finmeccanica) and then became president of Banca Popolare di Bari from 2020 to 2022. Since 2013 he has also been president of the Centro Studi Americani.
