“We built the digital bank in 12 months and what about the Pnrr?” says Messina (Intesa)

He was especially proud Charles Messina, managing director of Intesa Sanpaolo, when yesterday morning he presented the group’s new digital bank: Isybank. Proud of the innovative features of the project, which aims to become a reference model (“a digital gym”) for the whole sector, but also for the very short time it took to set it up, 12 months since we started talking about it within the group. After this experience, Messina essentially said, it is difficult to understand the fact that in Italy we are still discussing the funding of the Pnrr on digital. “In just 12 months we have done something the whole country can be proud of”. A provocation? It is not in the style of Intesa Sanpaolo’s number one, but a reflection yes and also, indirectly, an exhortation to the government to accelerate at the European level because Italy “needs to grow by 2 percent” thanks to new investments, not it doesn’t matter if they’re called Pnrr or something else.
