The reforms promised by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio have not yet been seen, but the deputy Francesco Paolo Sisto reassures: “In the first half of June we will go to the Council of Ministers”. Towards changes on abuse of office, interceptions and precautionary measures

The month of May is also over and there is no trace of the much announced justice reform. “By May we will present the first package of reforms, in the sense of guarantee”, said the minister Carlo Nordio in March. The “package” should have included targeted interventions on abuse of office, trafficking in illicit influences, statute of limitations, interceptions, pre-trial detentionappealability of acquittal sentences. At the beginning of May, not seeing even a single draft of the announced measures arrive, common sense led to ideally moving the deadline to the end of the month. Even May is over, however, and nothing has arrived, a sign that there is something, in the timetable imagined by Nordio, that is not working. Blame the tensions within the majority parties on some key issues, but above all the weight played by magistrates placed out of office in the ministry.
