“The Democratic Party should remember that left-wing mayors and administrators have been calling for the abolition of abuse of office for at least thirty years. After all, this is a left-wing battle”. So, interviewed by Il Foglio, Franco Bassanini, former minister for public administration and regional affairs, comments on the justice reform. “To protect the interests of the weakest citizens – explains Bassanini, president of Cassa depositi e prestiti from 2008 to 2015 – effective governments and administrations are needed, capable of making timely decisions and quickly implementing decisions, assuming political responsibility for them. The paralysis of the administrations, on the other hand, causes interventions and fundamental services, such as health, education, public transport and active labor policies, to function poorly: and the weakest classes pay the highest price”.
