Tunisia, Sunday the trip of Meloni, Ursula von der Leyen and Rutte

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will return to Tunisia on Sunday as part of the dialogue for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with President Kais Saied. This was announced by EU Commission spokeswoman Dana Spinant.

In the last meeting, a joint declaration had arrived which was then supposed to lead to a memorandum. But there was a rift from the landlord: “We do not accept migrants in exchange for money”. The European Union had shown up at the presidential palace in Carthage with some money, 150 million euros for the disastrous Tunisian coffers, another 100 for the control of irregular immigration.
