Trenitalia staff stops, times of possible inconvenience – Corriere.it

The trade union organizations Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Sml Fast Confsal and Orsa Ferrovie have proclaimed a national strike by Trenitalia personnel. A note from the same company and the Guarantee Commission website announce that the stop scheduled for Friday 14 April from 9 to 17.

Complaint from the trade unions

The unions explain that the motivation is a gradual worsening of working conditions since the end of the pandemic, both for railway workers and for employees of cleaning and catering contractors. It is necessary – the trade union organizations ask – to resume a serious confrontation aimed at resolving the critical issues for Trenitalia workers. For what concern traveling staff organizations complain of an aggravation of shifts work of the crew personnel and expiry of the connected logistical aspects. In particular, the critical issues related to the right to a meal have increased. Furthermore, these employees are not given the opportunity to choose when and where to use lunch and the shortage of staff is increasingly unsustainable.

The reasons for the strike

With regard to maintenance personnel, the note reads of the need in the Trenitalia workshops for the insertion of new resources, for important returns of activities currently under contract and for the relaunch of infrastructural and technological investments in the plants. In addition, the unions highlight a progressive and one-sided reduction of the sales and assistance network and that no response was provided on the subject of personnel enhancements and improper use of availability. Finally, for office staff and trade unions, I would add that the request for a specific regulation of smart working and smart office still remains unanswered.

Memberships in Lombardy

For the same day and in the same time slot – i.e. Friday 14 April from 9 to 17 – USB private work, SGB and Cub Trasporti proclaimed a general strike of all public and private categories also in Lombardy. it is still too early to know the extent of the inconvenience, meanwhile on Trenord’s official website we can read that in similar circumstances the adhesions were not significant. Therefore, it is not expected interruptions of railway traffic in Lombardy. Any cancellations will be promptly communicated. The airport service will be guaranteed in the same way: bus only for airport connections between Milan Cadorna and Malpensa Airport (without intermediate stops). From Milan Cadorna the buses will leave from via Paleocapa 1; buses to Stabio and Malpensa Airport to guarantee the S50 Malpensa Airport – Stabio airport connection (without intermediate stops).

Other regions

In addition to Lombardy, the Guarantee Commission website reports possible inconvenience for rail transport in other regions as well. Fit Cisl, Filt Cgil, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri and Orsa they proclaimed it also in Tuscany, always Friday 14 April in the same time slot. Uil Trasporti, Slm Fast, Ugl, Orsa, Rsu 42 Collegio Equipaggi announced it in the same way in Trentino.
