“The waste-to-energy plant in Rome is an essential work from an environmental point of viewI also say this based on my role as minister: it is the right solution, the capital today sends dozens of trucks loaded with garbage traveling north, a daily and senseless ecological damage”. Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment and Energy Security at Forza Italia altitude of the Meloni government has just met the dem mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri at the XXXIX national assembly of the Anci in Bergamo. The mayor reiterated the concept in front of the audience of local administrators: “For Rome, the only alternative to the waste-to-energy plant is a mega landfill. For the treatment of undifferentiated waste, there are only two technologies available, tertium non datur, it is a common sense decision, not a political choice”. And on this the minister agrees perfectly with him. “To every initiative – he says – there is always someone who is against it, but whoever governs has the duty to summarize and to promote the interests of the country, the region or the municipality that he administers. Gualtieri is my political opponent, but I think that with the choice of the waste-to-energy plant he is serving the interests of Rome and the Romans”.
