The maneuver arrives in the Chamber but Forza Italia and Lega promise changes

The process to approve the budget law starts today in the Chamber of Deputies. Two problems stand out in front of the majority: the extremely tight deadlines for which it will not be possible to open a discussion in the Senate, but only to approve the work already done; and the split in the majority, with Lega and Forza Italia who, from different fronts, promise battle. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s prospects open up to a work of mediation so that the maneuver arrives in the Senate by Christmas and is approved by the deadline of 31 December. It will perhaps be necessary, in the face of the clash over pensions and tax bills in installments, to find new allies, or at least non-enemies. Tomorrow Meloni will meet the leader of the Third Pole, Charles Calenda. While Renzi declares a Free: “No mess, but we are in opposition to the government and not the country. Let’s try to lend a hand, it seems to me that the president needs it”.

Meanwhile, in the budget law that will arrive in the Chamber today there are already changes compared to the previous text. The one that makes the most noise: sellers will no longer be obliged to accept payments with the POS up to 60 euros. In the first version there was talk of 30 euros. Furthermore, the cash ceiling in January will not be more than a thousand euros, but 5,000. But for many, the 60 euros are an identity measure that favors evasion. And as with the post, Matteo Salvini’s League has other flags in mind to bring to the courtroom. The list is long: Quota 103, flat tax extended for VAT numbers, the bridge over the Strait, the Imu exemption for those who own occupied properties. And in addition to the aforementioned, as well as won, question pos, the Northern League leader wants to return to insisting on tax bills: he aims to bring the installment payment from 5 to 7 years. The Rdc is another crucial point: on the part of the League, they want to accept the proposal of the minister Giuseppe Valditara and withdraw the check from young people who have left school.

Yet the government is more feared than the front of Come on Italy, with Silvio Berlusconi who doesn’t seem afraid of going beyond the established date. In FI that December 31st is not scary and if necessary the party is ready to go even further to carry on the battle on theraising pensions. A political and economic problem that FdI will try to avoid by limiting the amendments to avoid operations of obstruction. Berlusconi wants to raise the minimum pensions as promised in the electoral campaign: it is not enough that those under 525 a month are increased to 570 this year and 580 next year; it will have to reach 600 euros from the new year. The prime minister sees in the proposal an economic knot that is difficult to untie: 600 euros mean 780 million, instead of the 200 budgeted to bring them to 570.

Forza Italia is adamant and is the president of the senators Licia Ronzulli both the vice president of the Chamber Giorgio Mulè speak of a too timid maneuver. An “herbal tea”, comments Mulè. Ronzulli instead, from the columns of Corriere della Sera admits that FI aspires to “something more and better” and maintains that the intentions on “healthcare, minimum pensions and Superbonus, which ended in too traumatic a way, will be pursued”. In fact, even on the building subsidy, the forzisti are asking for the deadlines to be extended to start the works, keeping the Superbonus at 110 percent.
