The Carroccio proposal: up to 20 thousand euros in deductions for the under 35s. Opposition in revolt. Then a first step back

Tax bonus of up to 20,000 euros to support the expenses of those who get married in church. The bill presented by five Northern League deputies determines the immediate reaction of the opposition. In the evening, the first signatory, Northern League supporter Domenico Furgiuele, corrected the shot: The bill aimed at encouraging the sector of weddingwhich for reasons of costs provided for a bonus intended only for religious weddings, during the parliamentary debate it will naturally be extended to all weddings, regardless of whether they are celebrated in church or not.

The proposal filed in the Chamber and also signed by Alberto Gusmeroli, Simone Billi, Ingrid Bisa and Erik Umberto Pretto, all exponents of the Carroccio, however it develops making an explicit difference between the two rites. Starting from the Istat data which detects a greater drop – more than double – of religious marriages compared to civil ones, he says: Civil marriage in itself is a less onerous celebration than religious marriage. He then introduces what appears to be a corrective-incentive: With the bonus we intend to facilitate young couples who intend to celebrate a religious marriage and who will have the opportunity to take advantage of the deduction of 20 percent of the expenses connected to the celebration.

Among the conditions: that the spouses are under 35, that the total income is under 23,000 euros, and that the Italian citizenship has been held for at least 10 years. The subsidy would be available for all costs, from church decorations, flowers and booklets to those relating to the party (Clothes, catering, favors, coiffeur, make-up and wedding reportr). The expenditure for the State to cover five years of bonuses is quantified at around 716 million.

The criticisms are unanimous: the pd Simona Malpezzi speaks of unconstitutional and absurd proposals, for Mara Carfagna of Azione the League remained with the Pope King. For Benedetto Della Vedova, of +Europe, the proposal recalls the very fascist tax on celibacy. But also by the majority Maurizio Lupi, head of Noi Moderati, says no to bizarre proposals.
