Cozzolino’s role is described by Giorgi who, when questioned, said that “the corrupt deputies are Tarabella and, indirectly, Cozzolino who was involved with Morocco and had contacts with Atmoun
thanks to Panzeri.

Panzeri was the president of the Maghreb commission and then passed the baton to Cozzolino. He took some ties or suits (maybe it’s a coded language, ed). Panzeri took even later (…) I don’t know the exact amounts (…) we are talking about a few tens of thousands of euros (…). With the new legislature of Parliament it was necessary to find a successor to Panzeri (not re-elected in 2019, ed) at the head of the aforementioned delegation”. Cozzolino becomes its president, and then he is also elected to the commission of inquiry into Morocco’s use of the Pegasus trojan against European leaders.

«During a stay in Brussels (on June 3, 2021) Atmound – we read again – would have gone to Cozzolino’s apartment. On that occasion, he would have asked him (the second, ed) to be able to speak urgently with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco”. Furthermore, in June 2022, the MEP «went to Poland to meet Atmoun. During this meeting, the aforementioned would have received an honorific badge and a “tie” and the line to be followed in the joint EU-Morocco commission would have been discussed (or at least it would have been desired).

In a conversation, intercepted by Belgian 007, Panzeri and Giorgi allegedly “agreed to make room for both Cozzolino,
and in Kaili in the Pegasus commission (in the end the two would have been designated) with a view to defending Moroccan interests».
Furthermore, in March 2022, Atmoun, “at the request of his ‘boss’, contacted Panzeri to ask Cozzolino to make a statement regarding the reconciliation of Spain with Morocco”. Between the two countries there would have been problems related to immigrants – according to what Giorgi would have sent to the ambassador. The accusations also include a meeting in May 2022 in which Giorgi informed Panzeri that “a text unfavorable to Morocco” would be suppressed complaining of the lack of “understanding of Cozzolino”. Finally, mention is made of a meeting on Qatar that would have been held on 7 December last, before which Giuseppe Meroni, former assistant to Marc Tarabella unrelated to the investigation, would have asked Panzeri for instructions, then sending him two text messages: «Qatar resolved » and «the quadrunvirate Cozzolino-Moretti-Arena-Tarabella struck with precision, attention and effectiveness» (even Moretti and Arena are not under investigation).
