The disputed pension reform of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, has overcome the last institutional obstacle. On Friday, the Constitutional Council in fact validated the essential elements of the flagship project for the second five-year period, starting with the most important article, article 7, which provides for the progressive raising of the retirement age from 62 to 64. The nine sages of the Constitutional Council have only partially censored the legislative text: rejecting six provisions, even if not of primary importance. Among these the so-called “index senior”, which required companies to publish certain indicators on employees over 55, with the aim of improving their working situation. The “senior index” and the other five measures, however, could be reintegrated into the future labor law expected by the summer.
