The CEO of Newcleo explains why the nuclear power of the future is made in Italy

Paris. Among the twelve Italian companies that took part in the sixth edition of Choose France on Monday, the summit organized every year by President Macron to seduce foreign investors, there was also New Cleo, the made in Italy nugget of the nuclear sector, which has announced a 3 billion euro investment in the period 2023-2030 for the development of the first 30MWe fourth generation modular reactor and a plant for the production of innovative nuclear fuels. Based in London, the start-up was founded in 2021 by the physicist Stephen Goodfrom the nuclear engineer Luciano Cinottiand from Elisabeth Rizzotti, physicist with a background in finance. In Lyon, in June 2022, Newcleo opened its French branch, where it already employs 70 engineers and other qualified personnel. And jobs are set to rise: there will be around a hundred in France by the end of 2023, with the aim of reaching a total of 500 employees in 2030.
