Face to face at Palazzo Chigi after the controversy over the Sanremo Festival: the economic and financial situation examined. The final balance must be approved by April, then a new meeting between the two

Carlo Fuortes, CEO of Rai will certainly remain in the company until the approval of Rai’s financial statements, i.e. by April. The meeting between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the managing director of the public broadcaster finally took place this afternoon. Followed by an official note from Palazzo Chigi which informs how, during the interview, the economic and financial situation of Rai was examined in view of the 2022 final balance which will be closed by April 2023. The president Meloni and Fuortes will meet again after the approval of the Rai budget.

Although concise, the press release seems to identify a path that could lead the CEO to leave his office in April, i.e. one year after his expiryset for 2024. There would therefore be time, also to identify an exit strategy which now excludes Fuortes’ arrival at the Maggio Fiorentino which, as decided today, will be led by Ninni Cutaia after the clearance given by the Municipality of Florence to the superintendent Alexander Pereira. Meanwhile, the CEO awaits the decision of the Communications Authority on the possible opening of an investigation into the Sanremo events linked to hidden advertising and violation of the protection of minors for the day after tomorrow. While we have to wait for the March 16th for a new board of directors where Fuortes should answer questions from the directors and the board of statutory auditors on the same issues.
