The case of absenteeists explodes in Sicilian Parliament and legislative stagnation.

Zero reforms in six months (since the beginning of the legislature) e only six laws passed -with an average of only one order per month-.

And as if that weren’t enough, there is also the negative data of the articles of the Regional Finance law contested at national level: 66 articles out of 143 approved, equal to 46.15%, against the 17 challenged compared to the 132 approved five years ago and equal to 12.8%. To make people understand the complexity and delicacy of the matter the president of Ars Gaetano Galvagno — exponent of Fdipolitically close to the paternese countryman president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa – has not spared jabs at the center-right Sicilian government led by Renato Schifani: In the future, this presidency will hardly take other risks of rules that can be contested. Galvagno also urged the parliamentary commissions to speed up the work of approving the bills already filed and not limit themselves to just organizing hearings.

I can’t blame the absences of minority deputies because they can stay there, but I have to note that the vast majority of centre-right absentees greatly embarrass this presidency, which cannot go ahead. We are trying with the vice presidents, who take turns with me, to keep the classroom always open, for me it is unacceptable that after six months there is not a great passion for the work we have been invested in. We will see you again on May 16, I hope there is the presence of the government, I really tell you that this phase is embarrassing.

Galvagno thus launching a clear message to the parliamentarians – in particular to those of the centre-right and to the Schifani government.

In the last parliamentary session that Galvagno had to interrupt due to the many absences, he commented: We can’t go ahead with any of the bills because there is no quorum, therefore there are no conditions to be able to continue. As soon as the session closes, he will call the President of the Region for the question relating to the government because dialogue with the group leaders is not his total responsibility, but he will call all the majority group leaders because these absences are heavy on the Sicilians.

One of the paradoxical aspects of the question that the Sicilian Parliament, which prides itself on the oldest title in the world and leaps to the national headlines for the slowness denounced by its interior, was also the protagonist of thesalary increase. Let me be clear, everything according to the rules: since the increases also for the government of the autonomous region are linked to national parameters.
