Schlein under siege in Pd. Two moves, between Europeans and the Chamber

The disappearance of Silvio Berlusconi, cynical as it may seem to underline it, has allowed Elly Schlein to postpone a national leadership of the Democratic Party which promised to be very delicate after the administrative failures and the controversial management of the renewal of the positions of the dem parliamentary groups, with the removal of Piero De Luca as deputy group leader and the appointment of Paolo Ciani. Now the secretary hopes that a few days of “suspension” will change the mood of her critics. The leader of the Democratic Party, in fact, is convinced that she is under attack. Even the latest interviews with Romano Prodi, Nicola Zingaretti and Andrea Orlando, who are not among her detractors, have convinced her that the honeymoon with the Democratic Party is already over. For this reason he feared the management meeting (which will be on Friday). And he feared her to the point of spending the whole Sunday eve preparing a series of interventions by loyalists to be placed immediately after his report to anesthetize the criticisms.

Paola De Micheli is also very critical of Schlein these days. But her positions are nothing new. The former minister is aiming for leadership of the internal branch. A woman against a woman, from the Schlein era. And always with regard to Schlein: from now on the secretary of the Democratic Party will be more present in Parliament. Her too many absences, which risked becoming a boomerang. Lucia Annunziata, on the other hand, let the secretary of the Democratic Party know that she has no intention of running as a candidate on the dem lists, much less in the South. So Schlein will have to look for another woman who can break the consolidated balance of two heavyweights like Vincenzo De Luca and Michele Emiliano, true ras of the South. As for the other candidates, it is known that Area dem, Dario Franceschini’s current, is already mobilizing for Dario Nardella. The goal is to make the mayor of Florence the first of those elected, thus reaffirming the weight of the former minister of culture.
