Schlein after the administration: “Make yourself comfortable, we are here to stay”

“Make yourself comfortable because we are here to stay, I want to tell everyone”. Elly Schlien intervenes after the defeat in the municipal elections. He does so through a direct Instagram in which he makes it clear that his leadership is not in question at all. “We have great battles to fight, and give hope to this country. We do it by holding a fight,” he says in front of users. “We will not give up an inch on what our project is, on work, on the climate. Change is not a gala dinner, change is uncomfortable”. And again: “Continue to give us a hand, to support us, to join the Democratic Party, support us with 2 per thousand” because – he says – “we must build a perspective and give hope to the country”.

The dem secretary also spoke of Pnrr: “The government is slowing down implementation, putting municipalities in difficulty and risking making us miss a historic opportunity. Let them come to parliament to report what they want to do”, he said addressing the government. As for the use of EU funds for munitions to be allocated to Ukraine – which the EU parliament is discussing – Schlein said that “we cannot accept that funds are withdrawn from intended purposes going in another direction. Remove the funds from the nests to put them on the production of armaments is not acceptable for us, the Democratic Party has presented amendments to the European Parliament on this issue”.

The dem leader also urged the executive to make a decision on the commissioner for the flood: “We are still waiting for the appointment of the commissioner. We need those who know the territories and different choices could not be understood if not dictated by business or political interests The government must hurry”. The Democratic Party pushes for him to be the president of Emilia Romagna, as well as Schlein’s challenger at the congress, Stefano Bonaccini to take up the job. “Today in parliament the right scuppered a motion by the Democratic Party on high rents which asked to use the Pnrr for student accommodation.
