Santanchè in the storm after the Report investigation: what happened

The investigation of the television broadcast Report on the management of Visibilia and Ki gruop spa unleashed the storm on the exponent of the Meloni government and leading figure of the Brothers of Italy Daniela Santanchè. But what happened? Let’s go in order. The heart of the matter is this: in the investigation of the television broadcast and carried out by Giorgio Mottola, there is the question of unpaid suppliers, of employees who would still be waiting for the severance pay after being fired and the golden compensations for the directors always guaranteed. And then there are the talk of financial operations that would have been carried out creating economic damage for small shareholders. And the case, from television investigation, becomes political.
Nicola Fratoianni, of the Italian Left, explains “that for a case like this, she would have already resigned abroad”. And he specifies: «Last night an interview with Minister Santanchè was announced on a Mediaset TV network. We would have expected words of clarification on the too many events denounced in the Report investigation: why destroy a company, strip it of its flesh, assign yourself very generous compensation, not pay suppliers, go on TV to say that you have advanced the cig to your employees when this is not true, then fire them and not pay them the severance pay, these are serious facts. Even more if performed by those who have an institutional role. None of what we expected happened, but if someone hopes that the way out is oblivion, they are very wrong». Fratoianni again: «If the minister escapes, the Prime Minister Meloni cannot and she will not be able to do the same: turning away, pretending nothing has happened cannot be the solution. Parliament and public opinion in the country – he concludes – have the right to know how things stand. Abroad, Santanchè would have already been dismissed from the government». And the Democratic Party asks the premier «Meloni to come to the courtroom. We ask for the resignation of Santanchè».
The investigation
Report writes the entire reconstruction of this story in black and white and broadcasts the service which now becomes a real political case. Daniela Santanchè, in addition to being a leading politician, is above all an entrepreneur. And it is on this aspect that the Report investigation focuses. The Rai Tre broadcast investigated the companies, bringing to light the financial operations – apparently illicit – that are hidden behind the bankruptcy of both companies, in a report entitled Open to bankruptcy, with reference to the much discussed Open to wonder campaign created by the same minister. At the center of the management of Santanchè and Mazzaro, which caused the stock market value of the company to collapse, bringing it from 35 million euros to only 469 thousand euros. Furthermore, a document was shown that would frame Mazzaro: the latter had decided to pay the debt of six million euros that the owners of Ki Group had contracted, borrowing the money from Monte dei Paschi di Siena. Money which, however, he never returned to the bank. And then there are the events concerning Visibilia. In short, now the question moves to the political level. And many, in the opposition, are now asking for his resignation as minister.
