Renzi defends Schlein: “I too attacked for Vanity, but the escape from the Democratic Party does not depend on the color scheme”

«Elly Schlein is attacked for the Vogue interview. Too pop, critics say. About ten years ago I was attacked for the same reason. Obviously those within the Democratic Party who then accused me of personalism today applaud the youthful turning point of the secretary. But that’s another story. The point for me is another. I find it absurd to attack Schlein for her personal shopper or her color match. I’ll be old-fashioned but I don’t care to know how much she gets her image consultant or who pays her. I’m interested in politics.”

The leader of IV Matteo Renzi writes it on his social profiles. «The differences with Schlein are not on the trench coat but on the rented womb, the incinerator and nuclear power, the concept of work and taxes, subsidies, merit in school, Ukraine and the European army, justice and on guarantees. On these issues – continues Renzi – there is no image consultant who can help you: ideas count. I think reformists can accept all color choices, outfits, hairstyles. But there is no escaping ideas. The escape from the Democratic Party does not arise from the interviews with Vogue but from the lack of clarity on the contents. Maybe we don’t always get the colors right and sometimes we get messed up in the photos. But we have clear ideas about politics. And we are ready to confront everyone head on.”
