The former Iena La Vardera (now vice president of the Antimafia) launched the hair test: s from 37 out of 70 elected officials. The initiative was taken while a senior official of the Region was arrested after buying cocaine in a restaurant in Palermo

37 of the 70 deputies of the Sicilian Assembly had accepted the proposal to undergo a drug test, ready to have a lock of their hair cut for laboratory analyses. Just a little more than half. Almost like a goliardic game, pushed by the impetuous colleague Ismaele La Vardera who has just arrived in the Sicilian parliament. Many will remember him with his blond forelock in the television guise of Hyena, elected last September with South Calls North, the party of the former mayor of Messina, Cateno De Luca. A proposal greeted with annoyance by many, considered by many to be a questionable measure of morality, a media challenge from the new deputy meanwhile elected vice president of the regional anti-mafia.

But for and against, while awaiting the results of the 37 tests scheduled for Tuesday, they would never have imagined seeing the news of even a very small amount of cocaine trafficking in the very heart of the parliament itself, poisoning the eve of Easter among the halls of the sumptuous Palace of the Normans. it happened in fact that one of the (external) officials of the presidency of the Assembly, Massimo Migliorisi, a long career in many regional bodies and departments, 8 thousand euros gross per month, was stopped a few days ago while buying three doses of cocaine, three grams in exchange for 300 euros, from one of Palermo’s best-known restaurateurs, Mario Di Ferro, owner and chef of Villa Zito, a daily destination in Palermo that counts for aperitifs, dinners and parties.

The charge of drug dealing weighs on the popular chef who has also written a book on his recipes, now subject to signature and residence obligations. The caliber of the characters accesses the limelight on a police operation with uncertain developments. Obviously from the context of the restaurant, frequented by politicians of all parties, doctors and lawyers, artists and magistrates with their escorts, attention immediately shifted to the Palace where the deputies had been called to the discussed challenge of La Vardera. And the president of the Assembly, Gaetano Galvagno, one of the 37 (I have always been against all types of drugs), didn’t think twice about firing the official who had found himself in the office because he was enlisted by his predecessor, Gianfranco Miccich. A dismissal, however, was discussed on Good Friday and stopped by the legal office because it would run the risk of an appeal already considered successful by the bureaucrat.

He was the one who saved everyone from embarrassment by presenting his resignation, embittered by the diffusion of the name, as one of his lawyers says, underlining the repercussions on his career and private life. Struck by a recent mourning for the disappearance of his wife, father of a ten-year-old daughter portrayed in the photos of the Facebook profile, the appreciation of Miccich himself arrived on Migliorisi: I know he’s good and Galvagno has in fact kept him to himself, increasing his salary. But the president himself elected in September was resolute: I know that, as a contractor, the official has not committed crimes such as to jeopardize his stay at work, but net of professionalism and competence, I had to give a clear signal.
