Veto over Mulè, who renounces presiding over the parliamentary body called upon to evaluate Donzelli’s words on the Cospito case. The Melonian deputy: “The Costa grillino is better”

Mule? Never. We prefer an exponent of the M5s. Waiting to understand who the members of the Jury of honor will be (will be announced today), the parliamentary body called to express itself on the statements made in the Chamber by the honorable Giovanni Donzelli regarding the Cospito case, there is already a fact evident: the majority has split, again. In fact, the Brothers of Italy parliamentarians prefer that the presidency of the body be assigned to the opposition, after having placed a real veto on Giorgio Mulè, vice president of the Camera di Forza Italia.

In these cases it is customary for the Jury of honour, called to establish the truthfulness of the statements of one of the members of the Chamber, to be chaired by one of the vice-presidents. Having rejected Fabio Rampelli, Donzelli’s party mate, the most natural choice would have been Mulè. And yet, as people very close to Donzelli himself say, it would have been the Tuscan deputy who opposed: “Rather than him better Sergio Costa“, as if to say that it was better not to trust the coalition partner, given the rather critical positions assumed by Mulè since the birth of the executive.

So yesterday the former director of Panorama made it known that he had withdrawn his availability. “In the last forty-eight hours I have met with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, to verify the opportunity of presiding over the Commission which will have to pronounce itself on what happened in the Chamber on Tuesday 31 January between the honorable Giovanni Donzelli and various deputies from the opposition. As I was presiding over the Chamber when the events occurred, we agreed not to proceed with the assignment,” he explained. But there is no doubt that the embarrassment caused by the declarations made by the vice president immediately after Donzelli’s words weighed more than the role held within the Chamber. Those in which Mulè defined the accusations of having sided the battles of terrorists and mafias addressed to the parliamentarians of the Democratic Party as “ungraceful”.

The Prison Administration Department also intervened on the matter of Donzelli’s statements and on the legitimacy of the disclosure of confidential information, with a censure of the conduct of undersecretary Delmastro. While on the parliamentary front the Jury of honor will have to express itself on the content of Donzelli’s statements, that is, if they are part of the parliamentarian’s exercise of criticism or if they are excessive words towards the parliamentarians of the Democratic Party. The fact is that in order to “be judged” Donzelli believed there were more guarantees in the opposition. Because allies cannot be trusted.
