Mussolini in Brussels: “Register the children of every type of family”

In contrast with the policies supported by the majority parties, Alessandra Mussolini returns to the charge on the rights of same-sex couples. He does so by presenting an amendment to the report of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee on fundamental rights. The Forza Italia exponent therefore requests that “Member States register birth certificates regardless of the way in which the child was conceived or born and of the type of family from which he comes, whether he is the child of a single parent, of a unmarried couple, of a married couple including a child with two parents of the same sex or internationally adopted in a Member State by one or two parents”.

A position, that of the MEP, which clashes with that carried out by the centre-right. “The task of the EU is precisely that of harmonizing the rules among the member states and stimulating the achievement of greater civil rights which are individual rights”, she replied to those who pointed out the different position of the Italian government on matters. “The law can only touch the island of the family but it cannot be part of families, children must be defended from everything and everyone”.
