On January 19, 2022, while going to the San Raffaele hospital for hospitalization after being diagnosed with leukemia, she wrote a letter to her children: “If I don’t come back, please take note of the following”

“Thank you, much love to all of you, your dad.”

Thus Silvio Berlusconi wrote to his children – in what he feared might be his last letter – on January 19, 2022. Particularly complex days for the former prime minister: because a few weeks earlier, in December 2021, Berlusconi had received the diagnosis of leukemia – the disease that would later cause his death, on June 12, 2023. Back home for the Christmas holidays, Berlusconi will be in and out of the hospital, for checks, several times, in the following weeks.

Berlusconi writes a letter by hand: a two-sided sheet of headed paper, written in black ink. About fifteen lines in all.

“I’m going to San Raffaele,” wrote the leader of Forza Italia. “If I don’t return, please take note of the following.”

Then the provisions concerning Marta Fascina and Marcello Dell’Utri. And he concludes: “For the good I loved them and for what they wanted me”.
