Morocco fans and Salvini’s phrases on the celebrations after the victory at the World Cup – Corriere.it

On the evening of Tuesday 6 December, after the victory of Morocco against Spain in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, thousands of Moroccan fans they partied in different cities of Italy.

(The Moroccan community in Italy is made up of over 420,000 people).

Celebrations took place at Naples (especially around Piazza Garibaldi, where there has always been a settlement of migrants from the African continent), a Turin (with a large crowd in the Barriera district of Milan, in San Salvario and in corso Giulio Cesare, with fireworks), a Florence (especially in Piazza San Giovanni) and in other Italian cities.

TO Milan, where the Moroccan community is particularly large, hundreds of people celebrated in Piazza Duomo and in the Porta Venezia district, then concentrated in Corso Buenos Aires, where the police headquarters intervened with police and carabinieri agents to channel the cheering fans. Fireworks were also fired in the area.

Three hundred fans had gathered in the afternoon in Piazza Gae Aulenti to follow the match on the big screen. Some of them, lingering near the big screen, threw plastic chairs and tables and bottles into the air.

There Milan’s police headquarters already announced yesterday evening that the area was promptly restored and that the large groups who celebrated in the center were constantly monitored during the celebrations by the police, avoiding excesses and friction with motorists as they were limited and the traffic been diverted to mitigate the problem.

The deputy premier, minister of infrastructure and leader of the League Matthew Salvini he posted on Twitter the video of the moments of unrest in Piazza Gae Aulenti, writing: Morocco eliminates Spain, so they “celebrate” in Milan…, and hoping that those responsible will be identified and repay all the damages.

On the same line he expressed himself – hours later – too Romano LaRussa, councilor for security of the Lombardy Region, judging the scenes of the celebrations inadmissible and hoping that when Morocco plays their next match no squares will be allowed to watch the match. Milan and the Milanese are asking for security and respect for the law.
