Partisan associations together with the Ukrainians. So +Europe decides to celebrate April 25th. Tomorrow alongside institutional ceremonies – from the Altare della Patria with the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the premier Giorgia Meloni at events in the square for the Liberation – at the Pantheon there will be +Europe, with the partisan associations and the Ukrainians in Italy, and also movements, parties, associations. “We wish to celebrate Italy’s liberation from Nazi-fascism and continue to express full support for the Ukrainian resistance against the dictator’s fascism Vladimir Putin“, explains the secretary of Più Europa, Riccardo Magi. “Yesterday as today and tomorrow – he continues – it is the duty of all of us to support those who defend freedom and democracy with their lives in the face of fascist and totalitarian aggression. Because the resistance of that time is the Ukrainian resistance of today”.

For Oles Horodetskyy, president of the Christian association of Ukrainians in Italy, “defending one’s freedom, one’s dignity, justice and democracy are the aspects that the current Ukrainian resistance has in common with the Italian resistance during the Second World War. Anyone who does not see this evidence or is ignorant or in bad faith. One cannot commemorate the Italian resistance and at the same time deny the Ukrainian resistance the right to defend itself against the Russian invader”.

And the president of Fiap (Italian Federation of Partisan Associations), Luca Aniasihe adds: “It is very clear to us that the border east of Kiev that is being defended is no longer just the Ukrainian one, but it is that of the international order, its rules, its institutions and its founding principles and of a united Europe born out of the world war”.

The National Association of Christian Partisans will also participate in the event. “We – says the vice president Christine Olini – we are celebrating liberation from Nazi-fascism and Ukraine is experiencing its resistance to Putin’s ferocious attack. The resistance of the Ukrainians is also ours. The principles they are defending cannot be bargained for. For this reason, in addition to being present at Porta San Paolo to share the unitary celebration of all the anti-fascist associations, the association feels the moral duty to join the demonstration in Piazza della Rotonda”.

Among the participants there will also be the Youth Committee for Ukraine, the Ventotene Committee, Radicals, Free – Libdem Appeal, Eumans, European Federalist Youth, Free University Students, Generation Ventotene, Rls, Alde AIm, Associazione Capone, Lde and Action.
