In a note, the Defense Minister expressed himself as follows: «Tomorrow, April 25, is the 78th Anniversary of the Liberation. A day to be celebrated as the Feast of all Italians, of all of us. April 25, 1945 represents a fundamental date in the history of our Republic. In fact, for our country it meant the affirmation of democracy and freedom – we read -. The end of the war and the regained independence. In that conflict, the Italians, civilian and military, offered great sacrifices and suffered many deaths but, in the end, Italy was once again free, united and independent under a single flag, with a great will to rebuild, both morally and materially”. «And the Tricolor is the symbol chosen for this year’s celebratory poster, accompanied by the phrase “Freedom is like the air” from the speech on the Constitution delivered in 1955 by one of the founding fathers of the Italian Republic, Piero Calamandrei. Words – underlines the Defense – which contain a great message: freedom, like peace, must never be taken for granted. Values ​​that represent the pillars of our democracy and that women and men of Defense are committed to safeguarding every day, today more than ever.
