Nordio: perfect harmony with Meloni
Nordio’s stance arrived shortly: «We are and have always been in perfect harmony with the premier. The problem of external cooperation is essentially technical and aims, if anything, at strengthening the fight against organized crime. But its revision is not part of the government programme”. Justice Minister Carlo Nordio says so underlining that “the imaginative and sometimes malignant reconstructions of our hypothetical disagreements are vain attempts to undermine our resolve to complete the reforms on justice, according to the mandate received from the voters, and on which we will not waver and we will not hesitate”.

It does not mean not punishing some activities committed outside the criminal association, without contributing to the organisation’s objectives, but this must be done with a certain ad hoc rule. Currently we have not scheduled the proposal for the separation of careers. We will probably bring it to the next majority meeting, which will be before the summer holidays,” said the minister. It will be necessary to see how the majority will move, divided between the more guaranteeing wing made up of Forza Italia and the Lega, and the one closest to the judiciary (Fdi, in whose ranks, moreover, Nordio was elected).

“Our support for Minister Nordio is unreserved, without ifs and buts. Moreover, external complicity is a crime that exists only in Italy and that has no reason to exist. Either you are a mafiosi or you are not, or you compete, and therefore you are a mafiosi, or you are not. It matters little that the contribution comes from outside. There is a reform that must go ahead in the interests of citizens, for a fair trial in both civil and criminal matters.
