Meloni: “The Pnrr? It is no longer enough. Autonomy will not leave any region behind”

“The Next generation Eu is evident to everyone that it is no longer enough”, as he “couldn’t take into consideration the impact that the war in Ukraine has had on our economies”. The alarm is of Giorgia Meloni, intervened in connection with “Italy of the Regions”, the event organized by the Conference of the Regions and by its president Massimiliano Fedriga. The prime minister and her government insist on the critical issues and delays that have accumulated in the execution of the Pnrr and for this reason Meloni’s invitation from Milan is addressed to Brussels: “More needs to be done today at the EU level, starting with expensive energy”.

The government, explained the premier, has decided to reactivate the control room to monitor the implementation status of the objectives in a rapid, effective and cohesive way involving all the players in the field, including the social partners. “I think there will be a lot, a lot to work – added Meloni – but also a way to work together in the coming weeks. Resources and objectives must not run on an independent but complementary track, with interventions envisaged by other national policies”.

Speaking to the presidents of the regions, Meloni also spoke on the issue of differentiated autonomy: “The government wants to facilitate their rapid implementation, in a broader framework of reforms that in our opinion are all fundamental to strengthening the current state structure. The goal is greater responsibility for everyone, regions, provinces and the state, but differentiated autonomy will never be a pretext for leaving some parts of the Italian territory behind: we will work for its virtuous implementation, we want to ensure national cohesion”.

The premier therefore explained that “the greater autonomy that each Region will be able to ask for within the provisions of the Constitution is aimed at making reforms to improve the efficiency of their services, not at creating disparities between citizens. The hope of the government is that differentiated autonomy can constitute a challenge for the territories, a right stimulus to bridge the infrastructural, health and social diversities that exist”.
