Giorgia Meloni it has been “better than we expected” on economic and financial matters. The words of Enrico Letta to the US newspaper New York Times become a case within the Democratic Party. The dem secretary said that Meloni abandoned the clearly declared aggression towards the European Union, deciding to “follow the rules” and avoid “making mistakes”. For Letta, “the reality is that you are strong. You are on your honeymoon, without an alternative within the majority and with the opposition divided”.

After the interview Letta it was the turn of Stefano Bonaccini: “Meloni is not a fascist, she is certainly a capable person”. Words that cause amazement and the immediate reaction of the dem left: “Something’s wrong,” she says Andrew Orlando. Bonaccini’s reasoning is not immune from criticism and fears regarding the start of the center-right government. For example, the Pd secretary candidate points out that “the fact that Italy has been excluded from the Elysée summit is not a good sign”. Despite this, Bonaccini adds, “it seems to me that Meloni has every interest in staying within the Atlantic Pact and the Eurozone”. As for the majority, “they started boldly, I have the impression that they have had one too many accidents and above all I want to see how they will behave with regard to the Europe issue”.

However, Bonaccini invites us to avoid hasty criticism: “We need measure”, he underlines and recalls that, for example, “on the seaside resorts, with which we have always gotten along in my region, competitions must be made”.

Stop the reaction of former minister Orlando: “There is something wrong. Let’s agree comrades and friends. If we support, I believe in a sacrosanct way, that the budget maneuver encourages tax evasion, it does not help the economy real and rewards rents, it affects the poor and does not address the wage crisis. If we say that the NGO decree is against the Constitution, international treaties and the very sense of humanity. If we say that government officials, covered by the premier, have made responsible for serious behavior and for an unacceptable use of institutions against the opposition. How can we say at the same time that they are capable (of what?) or that they are better than we expected? Really, let’s agree comrades and friends” Orlando wonders.

It also makes itself felt Elly Schleinalso a candidate for the secretariat of the Democratic Party: “I believe that Giorgia Meloni has not yet found the posture in the new role.
