Mattarella’s personal doctor has died, the head of state cancels all commitments – Corriere.it

Francesco Pitrolo, personal doctor of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, died suddenly in the night. The Head of State has canceled the public appointments that were scheduled for Monday, the participation in the National Day of health, social-health, social-welfare and voluntary work personnel and the presentation of the Report of the Italiadecide Association. Pitrolo, who leaves behind his wife and daughter, was director of the cardiology unit of the Cervello hospital in Palermo and had been awarded the knighthood of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in November 2021. From Palermo, always the President’s doctor, he also often accompanied him on official visits abroad, becoming a point of reference for all those who follow the Head of State on his travels.
