The premier talks about the maneuver launched by the government, which will now face the discussion in Parliament: from pensions to the flat tax, to the abolition of the basic income, here are the measures that have been decided

Giorgia Meloni presents the maneuver launched in the past few hours by his government. The Budget, which will now face the scrutiny of Parliament and which must be approved by 31 December, contains various measures, from the abolition of the basic income starting from 2024 to the flat tax, from Quota 103 for pensions to the halving of the rates on productivity bonuses (here all the measures, in detail).

Meloni defined the maneuver as courageous, coherent, and which follows a political vision, not an accounting job: but when there is a lack of resources, he said, consensus is not thought of.

The premier explained that, of the 35 billion total engaged in the maneuver, 21 billion will be used against expensive energy.

Meloni then listed the measures present in the maneuver: the 15 percent flat tax for the self-employed with revenues of up to 85 thousand euros; the social bonus for families with Isee at 15 thousand euros; a tax on extra profits that goes from 25 to 35 percent.

Then there is the cut in the tax wedge, Meloni said: Not only are we confirming the present one, but we are adding another 1 percent cut for the lowest incomes. It is, he said, the most expensive measure of the Budget Law, it costs 4 billion. But in this way the money in the paycheck of those with lower incomes is increased.

The other major chapter (of 1.5 billion euros), said the premier, concerns measures for the family: the single allowance increased by 50 percent for everyone for the first year of life of the boy or girl; for large families, the 50 percent increase lasts 3 years. VAT drops to 5% for all early childhood products; and there is a very important measure on optional parental leave: for mothers, one month of leave will be paid at 80 percent, said the premier. In addition, the Ape Sociale and the Women’s Option will be extended.

On pensions, Meloni announced the launch of Quota 103: it will therefore be possible to retire with 62 years of age and 41 of contributions.
