Maneuver, Bonomi: Pos, early retirement and “non-priority” flat tax. On the tax system “a comprehensive reform is needed”

MILAN – Pos, cash, early retirement and flat tax. The menu on which the Maneuver debate focused is not a priority for the country’s industries. This is essentially what the leader of the entrepreneurs, Carlo Bonomi, says, who first confronts the leader of the M5s, Giuseppe Conte, sharing the “disappointment” for the maneuver (the ex premier’s report); then she spoke about him in the first person, in a conference with the foreign press. And the rejection rained down on several points, albeit with the clarification that “we go on the merits of the measures never in the evaluation of people or parties”.

Early retirement and flat tax “are not priorities”

“Interventions on early retirement and lump sums for some categories of taxpayers I don’t think are priorities at the moment”, says Bonomi. These measures “burn resources and do not create additional GDP”. “On the maneuver, I reiterate that we hope that the government will focus on the need to put resources into investment stimuli”. There are four priority interventions according to the number one of Viale dell’Astronomia: “The tax credit in the South, which is not just a southern issue, the Zes which represent an important industrial policy tool, the extension of industry 4.0 and do not start the decalage and finally the stimuli on research and innovations”.

“We have been talking about Pos for three days, I think we could focus on more important issues. I think both payment methods should be available. The dispute between one form and another frankly leaves me indifferent”, so Bonomi settles the issue of payments. Adding that “the theme of electronic payments is also a theme of Pnrr, however we should do it”.

Back to the charge on the tax wedge

Closing the government-Bankitalia controversy with a “no comment”, with via Nazionale criticizing the maneuver in a hearing, triggering the reaction of undersecretary Fazzolari, Bonomi once again indicates the priority of his association: “We ask for a strong intervention on the tax wedge, for low incomes up to 35,000 euros, from 16 billion, which would allow you to put 1,200 euros in your pocket, an extra structural month’s salary. It is a necessary intervention to be made: flat taxes and early retirements are not priorities and do not create additional GDP”. On taxation, “Confindustria has always been very clear”: it should be seen as “a lever of competitiveness” and “not all interventions must be aimed at revenue. We hope there will be an overall, organic tax reform, why intervene only on certain categories or topics does not work”.

Ita and Ilva, the industrial batches

Bonomi devotes a few passages to other symbolic aspects of Italia Spa. On Ilva he asks himself: “I believe that this country has not yet given itself an answer: is steel fundamental or not? I say yes and if we lose it we make a mistake. At Acciaierie d’Italia we respect the autonomy of each company but if it is a way to force some environmental concerns it is a mistake. Taking action is very complex – he adds – there are a series of problems stratified over time. In my opinion, industrial partners who can best operate in a clear situation, including a judicial one. I hope that nationalization will not come about without a plan for the future”. On Ita “I hope that the sale will come about. At the moment the procedure has been suspended but I think a sale must be reached”. And he also says that “the bridge over the Strait is one of the important infrastructural works for the country. It is not a technical problem to build it. Let’s build the bridge and start all the other works, in an overall project”.
