The funeral of Silvio Berlusconi, who died on Monday 12 June at the age of 86, is held at 3 pm in the Milan Cathedral. They are state funerals, they will be celebrated by the archbishop of Milan Mario Delpini, and national mourning was proclaimed today for the occasion. The hearse has already arrived at Villa San Martino, Berlusconi’s residence in Arcore, where a super private (and armored) funeral home was held yesterday in which Prime Minister Meloni, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini took part, among others and the faithful of the Cav. Gianni Letta (and of course the entire Berlusconi family). The funeral procession will travel approximately 33 kilometers which will take it to the Duomo. At about 2.50 pm the coffin will be transported to the churchyard. Ten minutes later the religious function will begin.

Preparations have been going on since yesterday, when a plan was studied by the Prefecture and Police Headquarters of Milan to allow thousands of people to flow into the Cathedral. The highest offices of the state will participate, from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, up to heads of state such as the Hungarian premier Viktor Orban, the Iraqi president Abdul Latif Rashid and the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The rite will also be broadcast outside the Cathedral, where maxi-screens have already been positioned. Between 10 and 15 thousand people are expected.
Of the oppositions there will be Elly Schlein, Matteo Renzi and Carlo Calenda. While Giuseppe Conte has already said that he will not take part in the ceremonies.
