Just Eat, the third delivery logistics center in Italy – Corriere.it – ​​inaugurated in Milan

After the Roman hub launched in 2022 and the Florentine one at the beginning of 2023, the one inaugurated this morning in Milan, in the presence of the Councilor for Economic Development and Labor Policies of the Municipality of Milan Alessia Cappello, represents the third logistics hub for Just Eat of the food delivery market in Italy. A choice – the company says – which represents an investment that consolidates the commitment undertaken with the hiring of 2,500 riders throughout Italy, with a subordinate employment contractthe only collective agreement for riders in Italy and Europe (the result of the agreement with the trade unions FILT CGIL, FIT-CISL and UIL Trasporti) which, today, has over 2,500 rider employees.

Milan is a very important city at a strategic level as, in addition to being the engine of the economy and innovation in Italy, where our Italian headquarters are located in the Porta Nuova area – commented Daniele Contini, Country Manager of Just Eat Italia – . Over time, the city has shown great potential to support the growth of digital food delivery.
In fact, the digital food delivery sector in 2022 reached a value of 1.8 billion, representing 44% of the entire food sector. And in this context, Just Eat has 28,000 restaurants, with an annual growth of partner restaurants of 20%, in 2,000 Italian municipalities, covering 80% of the population.

The new hub will feature 520 square meters, a fleet of 78 Cooltra electric scooters, which will make it possible to save around 61,000 kg of CO2/year in emissions and 100 employee riders (among these 16 are new hires) plus 12 employees with tasks of coordinating the activities related to the correct functioning of the structure. but there are also spaces for staff offices, with meeting and training rooms for employee riders, as well as a warehouse for storing materials useful for carrying out the work (e.g. PPE, such as helmets, rain kits and winter equipment, phone holders , vest).
The new hub also, in fact, a meeting place and trainingwith a focus on road safety,, with a dedicated staff, built in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and the State University of Milan. Just Est’s willingness to start a project dedicated to security — he said Alessia Cappello, Councilor for Economic Development and Labor Policies — a significant step that confirms the importance of the synergy with which it is possible to create a network with the aim of making our city ever better, livable and sustainable. A constructive example of dialogue between public institutions and private subjects which can also be a stimulus for other operators.
