The 84th International Congress of the Dante Alighieri Society will be held in Rosario, Argentina and will be inaugurated Friday 23 June with a video message from the President of the Republic Italian Sergio Mattarella.

With title Italian, a wonderful journey, meetings and interventions on the promotion of the country system, on the Italian language and culture are scheduled. There are also training and refresher courses for Italian language teachers.

The opening ceremony, moderated by the presenter Valeria Mazza, will take place today from 2.30 pm in the El Crculo Theater, with the lectio magistralis
by the president of the Dante Alighieri Society Andrea Riccardi, after the greetings of the president of the Asociacin Cultural Dante Alighieri of Rosario Luis Maria Martinel Ferreyra, of Guido Martinez Carbonell, president of the Teatro El Crculo, and of Pablo Javkin, mayor of Rosario.

In 2023, 150 years after the death of Alessandro Manzoni, la Dante celebrates its 84th congress while the localisms of the global world risk taking on a closed tone. Rereading Manzoni – declared the president Andrea Riccardi – means maintaining the deepest essence of being Italian in the field of intercultural dialogue.

Speeches by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Giorgio Silli are foreseen and the program includes a debate between the president of Tenaris Paolo Rocca and the journalist Marco Tarquinio and greetings from Omar Perotti, governor of the Province of Santa Fe. They will close the day Pauline Sebok, Americas manager of Sace, and the vice president of Dante di Rosario, Amadeo Lombardi.

Saturday 24, from 9.30, at the headquarters of the Universidad Catlica Argentina the session reserved for delegates of the Dante network will be held and will be welcomed by the rector of the Uca Miguel ngel Schiavone. Moderated by Andrea Vincenzoni, deputy secretary general of the Dante Alighieri Society, the morning will feature speeches by the secretary general Alessandro Masi, by Mario Giro, sole administrator of the Dante Alighieri Lab, and an interview on language education and pedagogy with Emanuela Vercalli (head of international relations area at Reggio Children) and Alessandra Falconi (head of the Alberto Manzi Centre).

It will be previewed the excerpt of an interview with Mara Kodama, created in June 2022 by Alessandro Masi and Marco Gallo, director of the pontifical chair at Uca, where Borges’ collaborator and life partner shares memories and considerations on the relationship between the great author, Dante and Italy.

After the congressional conclusions of the president Andrea Riccardi, from 3 pm in the Museo de Bellas Artes Juan B. Castagnino the congressmen will be invited at the opening of the exhibition
