Over 1 million euro round seed for Holidoit, the platform for booking weekend and holiday experiences launched in July 2021 by Marcello Pelucchi and Luca Silva, which adds to the 400,000 euro raised in March 2022 to support the growth of startups. The proposed experiences range, for example, from horseback riding on the shores of Lake Como to dinner in a mountain hut with a snowmobile, but also to boat trips in Sardinia.

Various private investors took part in the operation, including some of those who had participated in the previous round. Overall, the collection of Holidoit amounts to 1.4 million euros.

The closing of the round coincided with the entry of Holidoit in the Goodwater Capital’s Genesis programthe VC fund founded by US investors Chi-Hua Chien and Eric Kim, investors in Facebook and Spotify. Chien, in particular, was the architect of one of the biggest bets made by venture capital, suggesting to Accel Partners, of which he was an associate, the investment in what was then just a small startup called The Facebook and which today is become one of the top big tech. Subsequently, Chien has contributed to further investment actually like TikTok and Getir, the Turkish startup that has developed a delivery service for ordering groceries online. Holidoit is the first Italian startup admitted to the Genesis program. In the operation, Holidoit made use of the legal advice of the firm Chiomenti.

“Compared to what is proposed by other companies, Holidoit’s offer is more linked to the territory and dedicated to local destinations”, they explain Marcello Pelucchi and Luca Silva, founder of the startup. “Until now, the sector has only been dedicated to an international clientele and tourists, while we are convinced that the local travel market has enormous potential and can change the way we spend weekends and holidays. It is estimated that in Europe alone the market is over 100 billion. We are happy with the new round because it represents an injection of resources that will allow us to grow further, and above all we are happy to be the first Italian company that Goodwater admits to its pre-Series A programme, Genesis.

Having received the trust of Goodwater, and the fact that it has selected us to join Genesis makes us proud and encourages us to continue working to grow Holidoit”, conclude the two founders.

Born in 2021 from an intuition of 25-year-olds Marcello Pelucchi and Luca Silva, originally from Brianza, who grew up together in the Paina Calcio team and graduated in London, Holidoit is designed to rediscover the local tourism market, destinations close to home, authentic and outdoors, pursuing a desire to travel that has changed profoundly compared to the past. Since its foundation, the startup has experienced rapid growth. To date, Holidoit has involved over 40,000 people who have taken advantage of the wide range of experiences offered by small and medium-sized local Italian structures: from horseback riding or with alpacas to boat, kayak and SUP rides or on vespa, quad, e-bike, helicopter, snowmobile and cable car, from spa experiences, tastings or picnics to fishing tourism, rafting, fun bob and wakeboarding up to truffle hunting.
