Here comes Casaleggio. The former grilling engineers are now giving Guzzetta a hand

Weird political animals and where to find them. They are inspired by De Gasperi but could find themselves Rousseau, they are led by Guzzetta and however it is not excluded that they end up with Casaleggio. Thoughts, works and mission of “I change”, “non-profit and non-partisan movement”, which wants a preliminary consultative referendum in favor of semi-presidentialism on the French model. And again, we read on the official website of the association founded, among others, by the constitutional lawyer John Guzzetta: “Enough of instability, irresponsibility, improbable coalitions and party games”. Other than the professor of Public Law of Tor Vergata who launched “Io Cambio” on 23 December, here it seems to read Beppe Grillo’s blog from the good old days. Strange but true, the ghostwriter is the same. It’s about that Peter Dettori who wrote the comedian’s posts in the golden years of grillism, formerly a key man of Casaleggio Associati and partner of Davide Casaleggio in Rousseau, then Luigi Di Maio’s right-hand man, now head of communication for “Io Cambio”. And that is enough for speculation to start in the five-star nebula. “Do you want to see that Davide wants to get back into politics through the window?”, the question was already asked at the beginning of the year in the chats of former Grillini friends. As the weeks go by, the gossip becomes more concrete. So much so that several sources with a past on the upper floors of the M5s confirm to Il Foglio that yes, Casaleggio’s interest exists, even if at the moment it is not known what outcome it will lead to. And the hero who unites the two worlds of the constitutionalist and the guru of digital democracy may just be Dettori.

Guzzetta fends offimplicitly reaffirming the assonance between certain watchwords of the original Grillini and the reasons for the movement he founded. “I do not agree with the concept of the philosopher Rousseau, who theorized an alternative participation of citizens to representative democracy, but I think that the tools of direct democracy should be at the service of parliamentary democracy”, explains the professor. Which he adds: “Our initiative is structurally not hostile to any political force, it is aimed at preventing the parties from ending up in paralysis whenever we talk about institutional reforms”. The model is Alcide De Gasperi: “The precedent for us is the referendum between the Republic and the Monarchy, at the time the parties of the Popular Front thought that Italians were not ripe for such a choice, but De Gasperi believed that giving the floor to citizens would have served to overcome the stalemate”. In recent days, the assembly of “Io Cambio” elected Nicola Drago, CEO of De Agostini Publishing, as president; but, among the founding members, the name that attracts the attention of the former M5s is that of Davide Dattoli. Dattoli is a young entrepreneur, founder of the coworking operator Talent Garden, guest of Casaleggio in 2019 at the third edition of Sum, the annual event organized in Ivrea by the Gianroberto Casaleggio Association. In the past, Dattoli’s managerial skills had been publicly praised by various Grillini exponents such as Stefano Buffagni. From Rome to Milan, a curiosity: the headquarters of “Io Cambio” is located in Via Visconti di Modrone 28, just two house numbers away from the old Milanese headquarters of Casaleggio Associati. But this is just one case.
