And so, in the end, the CBF (the Brazilian federation) decided to wait until 2024 to officially appoint the new coach who will have the honor (and the burden) of leading the five-time world champion national team to the North American World Cup in 2026. Yes, because it is precisely in 2024 that the agreement between Real Madrid and its manager, Carlo Ancelotti, will expire. And Ancelotti was identified by the Brazilians as the man capable of reviving the fortunes of a team that left Qatar with broken bones, where the green-and-gold were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Croatia on penalties. The federation knew that then manager Tite would leave after that tournament. Despite this, they found themselves unprepared for the event, limiting themselves to entrusting the team to an interim coach (Ramon Menezes), while waiting to find a definitive replacement.
