Tonight’s meeting in Civitavecchia (organized by the Magnesi Boxing Team) was supposed to feature a main event, the lightweight youth world championship between Christian Gasparri and Biagio Grimaldi. The first, however, was injured in training, and those being the so-called under highlights become the chance for a night as protagonists. Four matches that Repubblica will broadcast in live streaming starting at 21.15, consolidating a tradition which in July (15 and 16) will see the broadcasting of two very high-level evenings.

Match to be won well for Daniel Spada

In Civitavecchia four matches, as many paths to take: redemption or confirmation of being able to stay at certain levels. Wait for example for Daniel Sword, the very promising Roman lightweight who will meet Marko Dimitrovic in the eight rounds: a good test if it is true that the Bosnian obtained 6 of the 11 professional victories before the limit. Two things are expected from Spada: the first is obviously victory, the second is a performance that demonstrates once and for all that the dross of the match for the Italian title lost against Italian Marvin Demollari (one of the best tricolor matches of last year) is been permanently disposed of. A new titled challenge is on the horizon, above all after Demollari has left the title for an adventure – which proved to be unlucky – on English soil.

Expectation mixed with curiosity also for Valentina Angiolini. Repubblica has already taken care of her before the second match as a professional, won against the tough Polish Sonia Klos. An attention also dictated by her kinship: Valentina is in fact the granddaughter of the very popular Ambra. Against Klos, she showed her qualities as a fighter, always advancing without allowing breaks for her opponent. This time she will be up against the debutant Marie Kirsty Footman. “I am aware that the surname matters and that many viewers of Repubblica.it will also connect to see how Ambra’s niece boxes. But I’m finding my way in the ring and I think I’ve already shown that in part.” Valentina replies after finishing her work shift: “I understand that the day before a match may seem strange, but I always work, I never take a break. It helps me to relax, not to feel the pressure waiting to get in the ring”. In the previous match, Aunt Ambra was not at ringside: “This time? I don’t know, it depends on how she manages to fit her commitments. After all, she, like me, always goes to a thousand. It’s really a family matter…”

The picture is completed by the match between two professional rookies such as Saad Fathi and Vincent Rigano (heavy punches, you fight in the light heavyweight) and the one between the Tuscan Simone Bicchi, super lightweight chasing a titled chance, and the Bosnian test driver Milos Janjanin.
