Prime Minister Meloni’s response to the editor of Corriere Fontana on the landslide of Ischia and on Minister Pichetto Fratin’s statement on mayors and illegal practices

The director of Corriere della Sera Luciano Fontana interviewed Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni just over a month after the government took office.

Here the complete interview

.

Below are Meloni’s answers on the landslide of Ischia and on the sentence of Minister Pichetto Fratin on mayors and unauthorized use.

President, there is not only Ischia. The Italy of amnesties has demonstrated the risks of building without rules. Isn’t it time to secure the territory?

«In CDM we have made a commitment: to approve the National Plan for adaptation to climate change within the year. Furthermore, the competent ministers will carry out a survey of both the already existing resources and the personnel to be made available to the Municipalities, starting from the smallest ones. We then mandated Minister Musumeci to create an inter-ministerial working group for medium and long-term interventions. There is a lot of work to do but a different cultural approach is also needed. Because every euro invested in the care of the territory is a euro invested in giving our children a safer and more protected Italy”.

Minister Pichetto Fratin has proposed to arrest the mayors who allow unauthorized building. Fratelli d’Italia had given the green light to the Genoa decree of 2018 on amnesty practices in Ischia. It was a mistake?

«Minister Pichetto’s was an unfortunate expression, but one that probably wanted to underline the need for the institutions to be held accountable for their responsibilities. If you were to go back to FdI’s explanation of vote, you would discover that we were very critical of the amnesty on Ischia included in the decree on the Morandi bridge. It’s in the records. Just as the criticisms of all those regulations that had absolutely nothing to do with Genoa are on record. In any case, we voted for the measure because the priority was to give answers to a city that was facing an unprecedented emergency”.
