With few sections scrutinized, Roberti has a wide margin over Gravina (Conte and Schlein’s candidate). Final turnout at 47.95 per cent, 4 points less than five years ago

With only 6 sections out of 393 scrutinized, the center-right candidate has the advantage in the elections in Molise Francesco Roberti (with 64.9 percent), ahead of the M5 candidate (supported by the centre-left) Roberto Gravina, which instead stops at 33.3 per cent. Emilio Iozzi with the list “I don’t vote for the usual suspects” collects about 1 percent. The vote must find the successor of Donato Tomamember of Forza Italia elected in the previous consultation held in April 2018.

If the data from Molise is considered of national interest, it is because the alliance between the M5s and the Democratic Party has been tested in the region, the so-called broad field which has found few practical applications at the level of local elections. In reality, the test is on the strength of the embrace between Giuseppe Conte and Elly Schlein also because in Molise the unitary candidate was expressed by the Five Stars (Gravina is currently the mayor of Campobasso). And Nicola Fratoianni’s Italian Left is also part of the coalition.

Final turnout down (to 47 percent)

The final turnout in the region was down to 47.95 percent, compared to 52 percent five years ago. The highest turnout was recorded in the capital Campobasso: 58.72 percent of those entitled voted. The second municipality for the highest turnout was Isernia (56.27 percent voted).
