Di Maio, the green light from the ambassadors infuriates the League: “A serious lack of respect”

The appointment of Luigi Di Maio as EU special envoy for the Gulf passed as a procedural point without discussion this morning at the meeting of EU ambassadors in the political and security committee. Now there will be some administrative work of the EU Council and then he will go, again as a point without discussion, to the meeting of the permanent representatives in Coreper. It will finally be approved by the EU Council in one of its formations. «The hypothesis of Luigi Di Maio as special representative of the EU in the Gulf continues to represent a serious lack of respect towards the Italian voters – who have soundly rejected his work -, towards the Italian government which does not support him and towards the many good Italian diplomats who would have had what it takes to aspire to the role» comments the League.
